Councelling
The practice provides a counselling service. If you feel your problem is of a psychological nature or stress related, your doctor or practice nurse can arrange an appointment if appropriate.
Primary Care Psychological Therapy
Primary Care Psychological Therapies (PCPT) service for Medway provides psychological therapy to help people deal with a number of mental health and emotional difficulties. They have a team of professionally trained practitioners based in GP surgeries throughout Medway and at our base in Gillingham.

Clinics
Menopausal, diabetic, asthma, coronary heart disease and osteoporosis prevention clinics are held separately at the practice. Please ask at reception for further information. The doctors and nurses are pleased to give advice on lifestyle and health promotion.
Minor Surgery
The doctors will perform minor surgery, e.g. small lumps, cysts, boils, wart. There is a designated clinic for cauterisation of warts and other skin lesions. Please ask at reception for appointment.
Wound Therapy Clinic
Based at Quayside, Chatham Maritime or Thorndike Centre, Rochester.
The wound therapy clinics are open to patients of all ages. Patients must be mobile with self managed transportation i.e. their own or public transport (voluntary transport can be accessed via HANDS etc)
Referrals can be via the following routes – self, GP,DN,PN,NHS Direct, SDT,A&E/Day Surgery, MIU, hospital ‘transfers’ and other health professionals.
Methods of Referral
Telephone referrals to MedOCC ON 01634 810925. Patients referred by other professionals should attend with a referral form with the details fully completed.
Treatment Categories
Removal of sutures/clips. Burns and scalds. Minor wounds, post surgical, post trauma wound care, chronic wounds.
Exceptions
Patients with leg ulcers or acute diabetic foot ulcers will NOT be seen at the Wound Therapy Clinics. Patients with these conditions should be referred to either the Diabetic Podiatry Service or to a Leg Ulcer Clinic for appropriate care.
Medical Examination/Private Consultations
We are pleased to offer medical examinations/ private consultations to all who might require them even if they are not our registered patient. There will be a fee payable in accordance with the British Medical Association guidelines for non-NHS medical examination required for occupations, pre-employment
A Phlebotomist
A Phlebotomist: (who takes blood) is also available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (8:30 - 11.30) on the first floor. You can go there directly and do not have to report at the practice reception. We ask you to be here by 11.00am as we are extremely busy on both mornings.
HPV Vaccine
The practice is now offering HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccinations to girls aged 17 - 18 years old. Female patients within this age range will be written to in due course and invited to make an appointment for the vaccination. These are the same vaccinations given out by the government at schools.
The practice will also be seeing 12-13 year olds who have missed any HPV injections at school. It is the responsbility of the parent / guardian to contact the surgery for an appointment should any injections be missed.
Chlamydia Screening
The practice will soon be promoting and providing opporunistic Chlamydia screening to under 25's.
