P1000528

Welcome!

This website has been designed to provide a practical guide to our practice and its services, as well as giving us the opportunity to keep our current and prospective patients informed with any new developments.
The practice is large and modern, with suitable access for disabled patients and aims to retain the traditional caring values that have always been associated with general practice.

Practice History
This practice has been in existence in Lordswood since October 1976 and was founded by Doctor John Fahey and Doctor Joan Montague and Doctor Kamal Sethi in what is now the dental practice in Goad Avenue, Lordswood. Dr Sethi left the partnership in 1978. Dr Fahey and Dr Montague retired in 1989 and Doctors O.S. Singh and S.P. Singh took over the practice in 1990.

This multiprofessional health centre houses all the professionals of Primary Health Care Team, i.e. health visitors, district nurses, midwifes, counsellor, chiropodist, dental clinic and phlebotomist.

Lordswood Health Centre is part of the new LIFT project and has become Lordswood Community Healthy Living Centre. This modernisation will provide more enhanced services for our patients.

LIFT Update
“NHS LIFT schemes such as these are helping deliver modern GP premises and new one stop health centres where they are needed most. Its all part of the largest and most sustained programme of the modernisation of primary care premises I the history of the NHS. These premises are providing NHS patients with access to a wide range of services right on their doorsteps, all under one roof”

Work has finished on a new healthy living centre, which will provide GP services, community dentistry, rehabilitation cares such as physiotherapy and other services provided by allied health professionals including specialist foot care and occupational therapy. There will also be space for community nursing and social care staff.

The LIFT partnership will be over 25 years and as much as £50 million could be spent on local schemes in the next five to ten years with even more being spent after that.

G.P. Training
Since 1981 the Government made it compulsory for all doctors to undergo an apprenticeship comprising a three-year post graduate training including one year G.P. experience in a training practice. We are an accredited training practice; all our registrars are qualified doctors who have undergone five years medical school training passing all necessary exams. They have already worked as house officer for twelve months in hospital, they are fully able to deal with all your problems.

Information for patients
This practice has been accredited to train doctors intending to become general practictioners.
The practice needs to be regularly inspected for this purpose, and this involves inspection of the medical records. Only doctors approved for this purpose will do this, and they will respect completely the confidentiality of the information.
Patient records may only be disclosed with written permission. Patients may therefore be asked to sign a letter of authorisation to permit this. No patient records will be included in the inspection visit without such authorisation.
Sometimes the doctor may wish to video record their consultations, and in this case once again your permission will always be requested beforehand.
Further information about training in this practice is available from the receptionist.
